‘Upbeat’ Party to Celebrate End of Chemotherapy
Like? Liked the sound of the drums. All abilities could participate without feeling self-conscious. Inclusive. Nobody was made to feel embarrassed. A sense of connection. The Tibetan singing bowls, tec., were very popular. Nice to do a little singing, too. People enjoyed your relaxed style.
Improve? One song (drum circle 1)  was a bit hard to pick up – maybe a couple more run-throughs would have helped, or a simpler song as in Drum 2.
Learned? People participated who we thought might not – brilliant!
Tibetan bowls and all different percussion/sound effects.
The frogs intrigued and amazed people.
What Else Happened? Lots of love and laughter in the room. As hoped, it was an ice-breaker for people to be able to connect later, too.

“Hi Steve,

Thank you so much for the drum circles you organised at our party on 19th April. Hopefully you got our feedback questionnaire, but I wanted to also thank you for all the hard work you put into making it such a wonderful afternoon for us.

As I'd hoped, it brought people together in a shared event and gave them a connection to make it easier to mingle afterwards (with that and the quiz, I was determined there'd be mingling!!)

Friends I talk to now are all saying that they enjoyed it, and one or two who were nervous about joining in (and planning not to, but did) even surprised themselves. I think drumming/percussion is such an inclusive thing. It's fantastic how many people can do it - as you say, anyone with a heartbeat!

I hope you enjoyed yourself - sorry I didn't get to chat with you. I didn't realise that hosting a party would make me into such a butterfly!

So, thanks again and all good wishes,
Vicky”

Like? They all loved it, particularly the freedom to express themselves. They could do nothing wrong. They liked the big drums and different instruments. It fitted all ages – they had great fun – adults didn’t need to teach!
Improve? A slightly lower level for the youngest children. A little bit of the session was a bit advanced – creating rhythms.
