West Leeds Youth Inclusion Programme
Like? Being able to take part in drumming, as most young people had never done this before
Improve? If it was similar to Fairfield Community Centre – indoors, in a room – more people would have taken part. [We were outside, across the route from the shops to the food stalls. It was hard to hold the space.]
Learned? Rhythm

Scargill House Mythbusters April 2007
Like? They enjoyed the freedom of improvisation and the fun of being able to play and make a lot of noise!
Improve? Nothing was said by staff or participants.
Learned? How to work as a group and follow music instructions and play with full command. Different and new instruments from around the world.

Stand-Down Day at John Smeaton High School
Like? Breaking down of inhibitions – never expected to hear 6th form lads singing! Breaking down barriers – the mix between CLD and mainstream students was fantastic. Great range of teaching devices, working with a range of groupings, stimuli, inspiring enthusiasm. The bizarre get-up [elf ears] gave people permission to become engaged in a way they would never normally do.

Learned? Anyone can make music
What else happened? Students began to take responsibility for the task, acting as leaders, conducting, even when the elf disappeared to the toilet. P.S. Jenny, the music teacher, would be happy to recommend you, too!
